‘Twas the Blog Before Christmas

http://xkcd.com/835/

‘Twas the blog before Christmas and all through ‘The Rif’,

Not a key on the keyboard was clicking, not even the ‘shift’.

The glow of the monitors sat on each chair,

and the doors and the windows were locked up with care.

The programmers were nestled all snug in their beds,

while visions of pay raises danced in their heads.

The comments boards lifeless, it seemed such a lull,

with users hard pressed to find even a troll.

When all of the sudden there arose such a flame war,

with so many flamers, I didn’t know which to ignore.

The name calling was frantic, it seemed such a brawl,

that I thought that this wasn’t like Christmas at all.

The thread was a loss, I had thought with chagrin,

when faster than USB 3.0 appeared the SysAdmin.

His name and position appeared in a whirl,

His avatar picture: An anime girl.

He set up his workstation and cleared out the cache,

then called programming languages up in a flash.

Now, Basic! Now, Perl! Now, Python and PHP!

On, Java! On Basic! On, Html and C!

Then issuing orders with the flick of his hand,

The troll posts were deleted, the flamers were banned.

The thread was restored so skillful and deft,

and as quick as it happened it seemed he had left.

But before he logged off the site, he closed down the polls,

and said, “Merry Christmas to all, and don’t feed the trolls!”
